Gentle Silver Polish

Photo of a shining silver spoon

A soft baking soda paste for light tarnish on everyday silver pieces — gentler than commercial dips, and safer for delicate engraving.

What you'll need

Steps

  1. Mix baking soda and water into a smooth paste.
  2. Rub gently onto the silver with the cloth, following the grain of any pattern.
  3. Rinse thoroughly and buff dry.
Tip: Skip this on pieces with black oxidized detailing meant to stay dark — it will lift that intentional patina too.
