Homemade Insect Repellent Spray

Photo of healthy garden leaves without pest damage

A garlic and dish soap spray discourages aphids, beetles, and other common garden pests, spot-applied without the residue of synthetic pesticides.

What you'll need

Steps

  1. Steep the crushed garlic in the water overnight.
  2. Strain out the garlic and stir in the dish soap.
  3. Pour into a spray bottle and mist affected plants, focusing on leaf undersides.
Tip: Spray in the evening, not midday — the soap and garlic can cause leaf scorch in direct, hot sun.
