Silver Polish (Salt & Foil Bath)

A salt-based variation on the foil bath — the same ion-exchange trick, using table salt instead of baking soda for pieces with heavier tarnish.

What you'll need

• A sheet of aluminum foil
• 1 quart hot water
• 1 tbsp salt

Steps

1. Line a bowl with foil, shiny side up.
2. Dissolve salt in hot water and pour into the bowl.
3. Submerge the silver so it touches the foil and let sit 10 minutes.
4. Rinse and buff dry.
